Jaime and Maria met February 2009 in London UK while obtaining their Cambridge University Certificate in English Teaching to Adults (CELTA) at Shane Global.

They shared a passion for learning new languages. Jaime was en-route to Brazil to teach English and was learning Portuguese while Maria had plans to continue her Arabic language studies in Yemen and teach English as a means to integrate and give back to the local community. During the course they recognized the lack of ‘quality’ and ‘relevant’ teaching tools and resources available to teachers and found they truly enjoyed creating their own stuff not just for teaching purposes but for their own learning enjoyment ….thus jam was born.

Maria A Petit

Maria is a Venezuelan-born-American living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She has a BA in Finance, Multinational Business and Spanish from Florida State University. She initiated her career at Motorola Inc. in 2000 leaving in 2009 as their Europe, Middle East and Africa MDb Commercial Director.   This was followed by an 18 month sabbatical during which she Co-Founded JAM Language ltd., studied Arabic and taught English in Sana’a, Yemen, played polo in Argentina and Mexico in addition to travel stints in Jordan, Spain, USA, Norway, Kenya and Morocco.   She returned to Dubai, UAE in 2010 joining  Al Habtoor Trading Enterprises as Commercial Director until Spring 2012. Jaime Chamberlain

Jaime was born in New Zealand and moved to Hong Kong when she was 10 years old. With a keen interest in sports she focused her passion into organising international sporting events throughout Asia for over 5 years with World Sports Group. Moving to New York in 2005 with her husband meant re-adjusting her scope to television withNickelodeon, and then music with Omnifone when they moved to London in 2007. She has experience in working in over 12 countries including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, New York and London. She is currently based in Sao Paulo, Brasil and has added to her scope Sophie & Theo's Cupcakes(co-founder) and fundraising for the Canadian International Society (Vice-President).
